Trex 600n Flight Log - Flights #153 and #154

Wonderful conditions for flying today.  Hardly a breath of wind, and some cloud.

First flights with the Radix blades.  CG of these blades were the same, with one blade being slightly heavier.

I played with the tail gain on the first flight, increasing it to try and fix the tail issues.  I went up to 75, but wasn't game enough to go any further as the high speed wag was a little hard for me to control, so I reduced it back down to 50 where it was "hoverable", then continued to reduce it while flying.  In the end, It is back down around 38.  There is still the annoying kick, but it is tollerable (well not really after the smoothness of the spartan)

The second flight I increased the head speeds by 50 rpm in stunt 1 and 2, taking them up to 1850 and 2050 and also the elevator and aileron gains to about 1 o'clock (from 12)

The increase in elev and ail gain definately improved the hovering stability and also improved the FFF characteristics.  There is an ever so slight hint of porpoising in FFF, but is not there all the time, so i reckon i have the elev gain spot on.

Nothing really new with any of the flights.  I did a roll on the second flight (first with the FBL), but other wise just normal circuits

I ended up reducing the head speeds back to their original settings of 1800 and 2000, as i couldn't notice any performance gains and also increased fuel usage (similar to when i had the flybar on)

The max temp for the second flight (121c) is probably due to the engine running out of fuel and leaning out for the last few seconds.  The mixture control up until shortly before running out of fuel was in the rich side of normal.

So far I have mixed feelings on FBL.  I haven't really noticed any difference to when it was flybarred (other than improved fuel economy), but I think the clean head and ease of setup makes it worthwhile :)

Flight times: 10 and 14 minutes
engine temps: 96 and 121 c.
