Not the greatest conditions for a fly, but I have been itching to get back into the air.  Approaching 100 flights for the year is also another reason I want to get a few more flights up before new years :)

Was mostly left, right and tail in hovers.  The back and front yards aren't big enough for me to comfortably do nose in (yet)

Adjusted slave long link shortening 1 turn to bring blades back into alignment

Tail is getting close to being setup correctly so there is no drift. ...

Seemed like a nice day for flying until the winds whipped up.  I still managed 2 flights of 6 minutes each though.

Mainly just hovering with all main orientations (left, right, nose, tail) some piro's and a couple of terrible attempts at circuits.  The wind was a bit too unpredictable for me to be pushing it too hard with the circuits.

I need to check the governor settings after some comments from the guys about the head speed.  Even though it "should" be only about 1850 they think it is closer to 2100.

Apart from the stormy clouds, it was a near perfect afternoon for a flying session.  Virtually no wind, temperature in the mid 20's.

I got a little more game with the Mini Titan.  The flights consisted of some nose in hovers, piros some not too bad circuits, both clockwise and anti-clockwise, plus some poor attempts at stall turns.

A couple of times I came close to loosing the heli. I lost orientation due to the heli blending into the clouds..  This has been commented on by SARCH club...

Well, as per my Mini-Titan blog, the weather was nearly perfect.  The clouds had cleared up slightly to "stormy overcast"

I performed some nose, left and right side in hovers and the "mandatory" piros (LOL), and also like with my mini titan flightsd, some circuits.  Thankgully I didn't have any close calls with the Rexxy.  I think the circuits were a lot tidier with the Rex than the mini.  Probably due to the fact that the Rex is slower and more stable.  The nose in hovers are definately a...

I spent a bit more time trying to get the tail to hold.  I have been naughty and used some sub trim to get it right.

The second flight was nearly spot on.  It was down to 1 click of trim was too much, so one more subtrim point should get it pretty spot on.

Flying wise was mainly tail, left and right side in hovers with piros and "mini pitch pumps" thrown in.  I won't do nose in yet at home as I haven't got the height availble to give me some "thumb fart room"

Battery #4 took 1714ma to charge for a 6 minute flight and took 66:21 minutes to charge...

Down at SARCH today with what could only be described as near perfect conditions.

I squeezed in 3 flights, 6, 6 and 10 minutes.  There was some tuning done - richening up the main needle by 4 clicks.

I had a lot of fun with my flights.  I spent a lot of the time nose in hovering, with some left and right side in and lots of piros.

Also attempted some small circuits.  they were very untidy, but i managed them.  The tidiness will come with practice.

I ran the heli in rate mode to trim the tail (again)  It took 6 clicks left trim to get it to a stable hover.

Once I had it in a stable tail hold, I left it in rate mode, but continued to hover.  Spent approx 3minutes of right side in hovering.  It was challenging as the wind was buffeting the heli around a fair bit.

Battery #5 took 1739 ma for a 6minute flight and took 66:25 minutes to charge

Another wonderful evening for some flying.  Down at Walpole road flying again :)

2 more flights with this wonderful heli.  I still have a slight drift with the tail, but it is definately manageable.

Having done so many flights this week already, I am starting to get a bit more confidence.  I started moving the heli round, going up nice and high and then trying to come down at a 45degree angle to just above ground level, then taking off again.

Another great night for some flying.  Down at Walpole road again.

Well I found part of the problem with the tail.  One end of the rod that I had glued in had come loose.  I adjuted and then put som thin CA to hopefully wick in and hold it solid.  I might have to go back to the original steel rod :(

Anyway, the tail seems to be holding a bit better now and with another 2 flights done in slight wind i am starting to build up my confidence more.  I had to stop myself from trying to do a loop.  I reckon I could have pulled it off ok, but I want to be comfortable in all hover orientations before starting anything like that.

Nothing special about this flight, other than a new flying site.  Was nice weather for flying and I am getting used to the new settings.  I am finding the heli very easy to control.

Basic hovering with left and right side in hovers and some forward and reverse manouvres with piros thrown in.  Trim is still pretty good as I was able to manage a few hands off hovers.  The tail drift is still there, but a lot less than it has been.

Battery #4 took 1664ma to charge in 66:37mins for a 6min...

A new "flying site" - a nice paddock lined by trees and lots and lots of open space.  Just off walpole road, paralowie :)

Another 2 flights, which went very well.  The Radix/Curtis Youngblood tail blades are really nice :)  I will have to re-do the setup of the center point for the tail as these blades, I think, have a little more surface area than the standard align blades.

I did some piros in both directions, and then upped the rudder endpoints to 65% (up from 50%) to speed the piro rate...

A couple of flights down at Morphett Vale for the spectators at the SDMCC trophy presentation and fun day.

These were the first flights since I had put on the metal tail pitch slider and the feathering shaft sleeve.  While I had the head apart installing the sleeve, I also cleaned out the bearings and re-greased them, also making sure they were still nice and smooth.

Another flight in gusty winds... LOL

I decided to try and mechanically setup the gyro again with this flight, so the bulk of the flight was trimming the tail to get it to hover nicely with no tail input. (with the gyro in rate mode)

It ended up taking 5 clicks of right tail trim to get it to sit nicely.  As it turns out, this was also the same amount required in idle-up, so must be pretty close.

The drift is getting very annoying.  I had it holding really well at one point and now it just wants to go drifting.  So next chance i get I will go back to basics and mechanically set this annoying gyro up.

The pack was basic hovering out the back yard.  the wind was blowing the heli around quite a lot, but im getting confident in my control in these conditions.

I reckon i hvae the tx settings pretty well matched between Normal and ide-up.  I can switch between them when hovering with...

After Delamar's post about expo (on archeli.com.au), I decided to change the expo and curves for my Mini-Titan. I was running 30% expo with 100% D/R. Idle-ups were running similar curves to normal mode. With only slight changes in top end throttle and low end pitch curves.

I have now dropped the expo down to 25% for all flight modes, left normal mode as is and changed the throttle curve for ST-1 to a flat 85% "curve" and also dialled in a bit more negative pitch. I will have to check the actual...
