Another 2 successful flights

The tail definately seems more locked in now that i re-adjusted the gyro.  I still need to adjust the trim one or two clicks left or right during the flight - not really sure why... maybe battery voltage??

I think i might have to change the length of the servo arm connection (increase) as i have had to turn the gain down to less than 50% to stop the wagging when you flick the rudder to straighten her up.

I have begun doing some right side...

Another 2 successful flights.

After switching to the T-REX 450 tail blades (which are slightly smaller than the Titan's), i have had some fun trimming the tail.  I have been told that i should be mechanically adjusting it so the servo and control arms are at right angles to the tail boom.  This helped a bit with the "Zero" setting of the tail, because when the tail control arm is at right angles, there is a small amount of pitch on the tail, which again helps trimming.

Well... I have done quite a few flights since my last blog entry.  Unfortunately not all of them have been good flights. I got some more battery packs - another 2 Parkzone 3s1p 2200mAH lipos - and flights 12 and 13 were short flights (about 3 mins each) to "Break in" the new packs.  Flight 14 was back to my 1st pack (which i have labelled with a '1' hehe) and also went very smoothly.

Another flight without a problem

Not sure how long the flight lasted as i forgot to start the timer on the radio.  Seemed like ages though.  It took 1766ma to charge the battery.

Weather was cool, with a small amount of wind.  With the throttle curve up around the 90% mark, the heli was very responsive, but not twitchy like the NR3d.  Also i noticed that the...

Forgive me trainer for i have sinned... It has been 4 days since my last flight... LOL

mmm... Every time i fly my Mini-Titan i am more and more impressed.  I have just taken it out in these horrible Adelaide wintery conditions.  Blustery winds that had the trees bowing before it.  It wasn't that strong that it blew you off your feet, but i could definately notice the wind when i got the heli up above the 5foot height.  It was so rock solid and i was able to control it...

I thought i would post my setup for the DX7.  So here it is...

Throttle Curve: Normal: 0-45-65-inh-75 ST-1:    80-inh-70-inh-80 ST-2:    100-inh-80-inh-100

Pitch Curve: Normal: 55-inh-77-inh-100 ST-1:    20-inh-75-inh-95 ST-2:    5-inh-50-inh-95 Hold:     0-inh-50-inh-100

Throttle Hold: -5%

Swash Mix: Ail: +80% Ele: -80% Pit: +80

Servo Setup: Left: Aileron Right: Aux1  (reversed in servo reversing setup)

Anzac day...  Perfect weather for flying... not a breath of wind.

Yet strangely, i had problems controlling my heli.  I think i will take off the expo that i added last week, and see if that helps at all.  I originally started with no expo, but added it after my mishap on flight #5.  I did manage a few no-hands hovers

Again i got about 6-7mins of flying with this pack (forgot to start the timer LOL). Temps were around the 60C mark for both the pack and the motor.

The battery took 1760ma to charge.

Flight #6 was thankfully un-eventful.  I decided to use my 800mah pack that i bought for the Venom Nightranger 3d.  I have been playing with the radio to work out a few more of its settings, and decided to make use of the built-in stop watch to time the flight time.  With the 800mah pack i can get about 3 1/2 minutes of hovering, which at times can seem like a long time. I have also finally found out what the 5 digit display is in the upper right hand side of the display when charging a pack on my swallow V2 charger.  It displays the number of milli-amps that are going into the battery.  So after flying with the 800mah pack, it took 725ma to charge it back up.

Flight #7 could also be called Flight #5 part 2...  It is the remainder of my 2200mah pack from flight #5. Another nice flight.  The wind was a bit stronger this time, but the Mini-Titan handled it quite well.  I got about 5 1/2 minutes from the remainder of the pack, and i didn't get to see how many mah it took to charge it up.

Flight #8 lasted about 6:35 minutes, and apart from losing one of the bits of fuel tubing holding the ping pong balls on the training gear there were no dramas.  


The wind was probably the strongest i have flown in.  Definately too strong for the Nightranger 3d.  The heli at times did some strange things like it was being pulled around on a string.  In a nice hover (with the wind pushing her forwards away from me) i would pull back on the stick and she would gain altitude,...
